A make-up birthday party

Nick's last minute trip to the emergency room meant that he wasn't able to attend a birthday party for one of his favorite classmates. Usually, I would have just taken back the present (we really don't need lip gloss and princess puzzles in our house), but given the circumstances of why he missed it, his amazing behavior that day and the fact that Abby Jo is one of his best friends at school I figured we would do our best to meet up with her to pass along the present.

So today we met Abby Jo, her little brother and her mom at a park right by our house. Abby loved her present, Nick loved playing with his friend and both boys loved discovering a new park. The park is actually part of the special needs school in our neighborhood and I never realized it was open to the public.

Nick and Abby had a blast on the special spings. At one point Abby said to Nick "let's pretend we're married." Nick didn't think that was a very good idea and declined the offer much to the relief of Abby's mom. Apparently Abby used to come home and tell her mom she had a boyfriend at school (Nick).



Zander had fun being Zander.



And both kids promised they would meet up again for some more fun in the park.
