Security blanket

Nick is the only child who has ever really latched on to a blanket and a stuffed animal (I love that he has them both). Zander had no interest in sleeping with anything until he got to make his own Build a Bear. Ben has yet to latch on to anything. When he is sad or sleepy he will run to his bedroom, open the bottom drawer and pull out a blanket. At least he used to. Now, when he is in need of a little cuddling he runs to the drawer and pulls out a sheet. Yep, a whole sheet. He can run past three blankets on the floor. He has to have the sheet. My mom didn’t believe me until she watched him one night and he did the same thing for her. This morning he pinched his finger – enough to get a blood blister and warrant me giving in to the paci and his need for the sheet. Besides, look how cute he is.

This little creature of habit melted my heart at bedtime too. Just minutes after his brothers went to bed this sweet little guy looks at me, points down the hallway and takes off for bed. I said “Ben, come say night to daddy.” So he turns around, peeks his head around the wall and waves his chubby little fingers at Mike. Then, on the way into his room Nick yelled “Good Night Benny” and Ben stopped, peeked his head around the door frame and waved those chubby little fingers at Nick. Sweetness.
