A party for Nick

The month of November is crazy busy for us so we had to have Nick’s family birthday celebration more than a week before his actual birthday. It also means that the party creeps up on me every year and I am never ready. Thankfully Nick is pretty easy to please and wanted nothing more than some brownies with chocolate frosting and Cars 2 plates. Oh, and the banner. He was adamant that we get the banner.

No visit from Papa or Jamie would be complete without at least one wrestling match.

 birthday1

Yes, they are wrestling, but every time Nick grabs Jamie’s leg to try and take her down she acts like a ballerina.

Jamie got pretty serious this time adding coaches to the mix. Big Mema was Nick’s coach so they were strategizing. I think he told her to get up and help once Jamie was down.

Ben got plenty of lovin’ from Kelsie .

Zander got a few extra cuddles from Daddy.

And then we got down to the business at hand. Nick asked for just one thing for his birthday. This is his face as he told my mom he knew she got it for him.

birthday7

Sure enough, he was right.

birthday8

There were lots of other great toys, too. A Hot Wheels garage, a season of iCarly on DVD (yes, he asked for it and his favorite Aunt Kelsie obliged), the Cars 2 movie, Cars 2 Monopoly, motorcycles, clothes and a new, super fast snow sled. Then it was time to eat. See his pathetic “cake.”

Ashley and Justin were late to the party, but Nick was very happy to see them.

birthday11

Nick has a bit of a boy crush on Justin.

birthday12

Ben had to try on Justin’s hat.

birthday13

And then Ben had to show off his own hat.

birthday14

Before the party was over we lost one of Nick’s balloons. Zander was the lucky one who got to go get it.

birthday15

Until my dad realized there was a much easier way.

Then, we kicked everyone out. The boys played with Nick’s new toys, took a bath and went off to bed. It was a full, but fun, day. But, I am always glad when birthday parties are over. I can’t even imagine what they will be like when one of the boys finally asks to invite friends to their party.
