On the road again ...

Ok, not really again because we never go anywhere, but it sounded good, right? We left today for a family and friends weekend in Des Moines. Mike is running the Living History Farms Race and we are staying in a hotel with an indoor water park! About a month ago I gave Nick the option of having a birthday party with friends or spending the weekend with us at a hotel water park. You can see what he chose (though truth be told if he would have said friends he would have got both). Shh ... he doesn't need to know that.

We rarely take road trips mostly because I hate packing for the adventures and spending any significant amount of time in the car with kids kind of scares me. My kids are not seasoned travelers and are usually whining about being bored within 20 minutes. Thankfully, Zander fell asleep for about half the trip.


Looks comfortable doesn't he? Nick played a "video game," which is about the only thing that camera is good for.


Then, he stole my real camera and kept himself entertained for a few more minutes.


At the hotel the boys instantly wanted in the water (those pics are coming). They played for a bit before Sam, April and Mya got there and we met for dinner. Though they were tired as could be it was nearly 10 p.m. before they finally fell asleep. Yeah for hotel sleeping! And yes, this picture groses me out. Playing on hotel floors ranks up there as one of the most unsanitary pass times in my book.
