I'm so lucky

I thought Nick was the easiest child to potty train. He had only a handful (if that) of accidents and was sleeping in underwear overnight within a week. I was prepared for a battle with Zander. First, I figured I couldn't have two kids that were easy to train and second Zander is my wild child. He's stubborn, strong-willed and just so darn cute that sometimes I can't resist him. So, imagine my surprise when just a week after we started potty training him (we've kind of tried in the past, but the attempts never lasted more than a couple hours) he was completely trained. Other than a few accidents at daycare (he likes to poop during naptime) he has been completely dry --- even through the night --- since Friday afternoon. He even cried when I tried to put him in a diaper for naptime on Saturday and again when I put him in a diaper for bed. I admit, I caved at naptime, but I held strong for two nights on the overnight. He woke up dry both mornings and has been dry overnight ever since. Seriously, I'm scared to see what No. 3 brings. I can't be this lucky forever!

Just 5 more minutes

Nick is still not a morning person. Even when I put him to bed at 7 p.m. this is what I face every morning. Unless of course it's Christmas. Or Saturday.

Um ... yum

I like bananas. Unfortunately, I forget to eat them before they go bad. So, banana bread (with chocolate chips) is a regular treat around this house. But, tonight, I wasn't really in the mood for bread. I had found this recipe for chocolate chip banana cookies on Eat at Home a little while ago and thought those three over-ripe bananas on my counter could be put to good use!

They sure looked tasty!

And Nick and Zander quickly gave them the seal of approval.

Halfway there

That's right --- I'm already at 21 weeks and counting. I swore I would take more belly pics this time around, but I'm not doing the best at keeping to my plan. But, nevertheless, here I am in all my third baby glory. Seriously, I think I was this big at about 8 months with Nick! I may have to find old pics before the next belly pic so I can do a comparison.

Silly bandz for silly boys

Nick started liking Silly Bandz when the girls at school started wearing them and a boy handed them out at his birthday party. Zander wanted nothing to do with them ... at first. Now, they are fighting over who gets to wear them and which ones they get to wear! I thought I wouldn't have this kind of accessory drama with boys!

All in a day's work

So, I think I've mentioned before how much Nick likes Legos. Maybe just once or twice, right? This morning he woke up begging to put together his new airplane. I obliged, though all he really needs me for is to keep him company (and correct the occassional mistake). I was quite impressed that within a matter of an hour, maybe a little more, he had created this beast of an airplane.

But, what made me smile even more --- this is what he did with the plane when it was done.

Sure, no one wants to see an airplane getting towed out of the "lake," unless of course you have been reading the Tonka: If I Could Drive a Tow Truck book! A small plane lands in the lake in the book and the tow truck has to come to the rescue.

For my friends with boys: We have the whole Tonka: If I Could Drive series and Nick absolutely loves it.

What a way to start 2011

Last night I showed a picture of our New Year's Eve celebration. We rang in the new year in bed (everyone had to get up early), but we had plenty to celebrate in our house!

This cute little butt:

Has been wearing underwear since 3 p.m. Friday - with only one tiny little accident! I may just have a few diaper free months afterall!

Oh, and for the record, Mike actually left today. For real this time.
