Sponge hockey

Hockey is an expensive and time-consuming sport in these parts. Kids start as young as 3 or 4 with weekly practices and games. If they are any good they are practicing a couple nights a week and playing every weekend by the time they are 7. And then they start playing on the road. Every weekend. If Nick was an only child we might have pushed him in that direction to see if he liked it, but since he’s not, we can’t afford the cost or the time needed should he be a natural. So, we substitute with sponge hockey at the Y. For $25 he gets six Saturday mornings playing hockey in the Y gym. There’s no real coaching. There’s definitely no strategy or play calls. But, there is a lot of fun to be had and it gets him up and moving. So, I’m going to consider this a win. He’s happy with it which makes me happy with it,

And since Mike is trying to get our bathroom remodel (Ok, mold removal) finished I brought Ben along for the ride. Even he had fun watching!
