I think Zander is ready for kindergarten. He may have a little ways to go in the learning and attitude department, but what he is missing there he makes up for in confidence.
I’m thinking I might have a little troublemaker on my hands.

Each year the Title 1 teachers at Nick’s school host a Family Literacy Night for first and second grade families. This year, the librarian dressed up as one of her (and our) favorite book characters --- Mo Willems’ the pigeon.
After a short skit the kids were divided into two groups for some literacy-based activities. Our first task was to concoct our own cookie (a pigeon book theme) and then write about why the pigeon might want to eat our cookie. Both my boys, in their infinite creativity, chose a chocolate chip cookie. I think both were a little too excited to play with friends to put any real thought in the activity. Zamder was super excited because one of his friends from preschool was there with her older sister.
And of course Nick had friends there, too.
I think Zander has a little boy crush on the librarian. She seems to like him quite a bit, too. I just hope that doesn’t change when he’s actually a student at the school.
See this little boy?
He thinks he’s pretty big stuff. Why?
Because he’s on the potty of course. We have yet to begin any official training, but I’m calling a smile while sitting on the toilet a win. And he can say “potty.” I’m hoping that means it’s only a matter of time before I am once again living in a diaper-less house!!!
The Easter Bunny held true to his word and made a special stop by the Christensen house last night to hide a few plastic eggs. And as expected, my kids were up before the crack of dawn to find them. And since I’ve been lazy and haven’t put any new batteries in my good flash these kinda-Easter morning photos will have to do. Thankfully there are more to come from my mom’s house (after the sun had come up).
Nick was pointing out one egg while completely oblivious to the one just above his head.
Zander spent most of the morning on the floor checking out what was inside his few eggs, which means he missed out on most of them. I think next year I will be hiding certain colors for each boy to make things a bit more fair.
Benny liked eating Skittles for breakfast.
After finding eggs are our house (before the crack of dawn) we headed over to my parent’s house for our belated Easter celebration. Except for the food (burgers and brats) and location (we usually have it at my aunt and uncle’s, though that would have changed anyway) it was a pretty regular Easter, despite being a week late. The boys found eggs (inside because it was too wet and muddy outside). My mom hid by color so each boy would be guaranteed the same number of eggs and goodies (except for the one extra money egg – which of course Nick found).
And then we went outside, just because we could. It was one of the only nice days this spring.
It’s Ben’s new favorite word and snack. And it' is stinkin’ adorable.
That’s just his cute face.
I don’t have nearly enough pictures of this little boy sleeping. This is a new favorite.
Mike’s been on kid duty quite a bit lately at bedtime and his way of handling it usually means Ben falls asleep on Mike or on the couch. The habit has been tough to break so I’ve been letting him fall asleep in the living room, too. It’s just too sweet to resist.
